Start STRUTTING you STUFF! Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

This summer was busy but for all the wrong reasons. that’s usually time for vacations, imposing family visiting the city, old folks dying, etc. the heat in new york didn’t make for any kind of creativity. lots of us around the office just laid around and binged on food, ice cream and other grown folks goodies. but work and production was never too far.

DECNY023 cdwe are starting the end of summer real nice here with the release of Don Davenport‘s debut on the label – and it’s the appropriate theme to get us back on track: STRUT. “Come over here and strut your stuff” – a line directly from the lyrics – penned and performed by Don. the official release date on Beatport is the 14th of September 2007. there are no less then 6 remixes coming on this package, from all the crew with the label (VB Heinze, Keith Just, Mista A, Lou Peoples and more).

In addition, Decibel NYC just completed the first music video to accompany one of our releases and yes, it is for STRUT. directed and edited by Chris Ohps – an up-and-coming video producer in harlem, nyc – the video is raw, simple and is just our first test into the video medium. Mr. Ohps was telling us that with the arrival of powerful computers and laptops and software such as Ulead Video Studio and Sony Vegas Pro, even bedroom directors can get in the game. we gave him a chance when he said he wanted to do the video and this is what we got back. we must admit that we are EXTREMELY pleased with the final product. judge for yourself… use the comments section to leave us your thoughts on the video.

Time to clean those pipes… Monday, May 21st, 2007

Spies - sectionalLet’s start with numbers and rankings: Mad CowsSPIES, released at the beginning of May 2007, is on track to surpass all our previous sales numbers of any release to date.

Alex Celler‘s mix is by far the most in demand, specially for the groovy house crowd.

After a timid start, The Undah-Dub‘s RISE UP is slowly gaining traction and we are seeing the numbers improve weekly. If you like the mixes, pass the information on to your fellow DJs and artists so that they can get acquainted with our catalog.

DECNY022 - Mental Health HotlineOnto what’s coming soon: the label office has been filled with the maniacal, twisted, dirty and neurotic sounds of the remixes for Mista A‘s MENTAL HEALTH HOTLINE. Breeze surprised us all a week ago by dropping, unexpectedly, his in-progress remix of that track: sheer pandemonium! “Timmy, I told you about playing with those mad cows!” Mista A‘s original is such an easily digestable number, while his breaks remix is chunky, rolling and thundering: “Shut Up and Take It”.

DECNY023 - StrutNot to forget STRUT by Don Davenport. Already, Keith Just, Breeze and Orduña – as of this date anyway – have shown their hands by demo-ing their mixes for the label staff.

The only hold-out is Lou Peoples who is said to be working on his mix in hiding. The EP will not go out without his mix! That’s the word on the streets.
